

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Dementia Care
Course Description
This will help learners develop their knowledge and understanding of dementia. It covers areas such as positive communication methods, use of medication in dementia care. Person-centred care, influence of and issues relating to, principles of caring for people with the condition.
The learning materials will provide learners of how to respond to behaviour that they may find ‘challenging’ in the most appropriate and supportive manner. Also an opportunity to explore the different forms of behaviour commonly seen in dementia care.
Candidates will also develop a greater understanding of meaningful activities to people with dementia, and the benefits associated with facilitating or providing this Care.

- Unit 03: Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia (Credit value: 2) (T/601/9416)
- Unit 04: Understand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care (Credit value: 2) (A/601/2886)
- Unit 05: Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach (Credit value: 2) (K/601/9199)
- Unit 06: Understand behaviour in the context of dementia (Credit value: 3) (J/504/2396)
- Unit 07: Understand the benefits of engaging in activities in social care (Credit value: 2) (K/602/4645)
This course is available online or as a paper-based submission
Requirements
- People are over 19 years of age on 31st August 2022 (beginning of the Academic Year).
- Lived in the UK/EU for the past 3 years. Proof of residency maybe required.
- Not on an Apprenticeship
- Cannot already have completed this course
- This course is free but colleges may charge a small admin fee if the course is not completed to cover the cost of learning materials sent to you.

We are presently undertaking online registrations so there is no minimum amount of people for an Induction to take place. All we will require is the students contact details (mobile phone number and a valid email address.
The qualifications are NCFE level 2 and are fully certificated Nationally recognised courses.
Learners are able to further their own continuous professional development a criteria for the care certificate which may also improve their career prospects and can then progress on to further qualifications in health & social care or other related subjects.
The course submission times are between 8 and 16 weeks depending on which course they choose to complete.
They will have a dedicated Tutor from the College or Learning Provider, who are fully trained and give feedback on all questions answered. Specialist Tutors are available and are qualified in dealing with anyone who has a learning difficulty ie: Dyslexia and they will support all learners throughout the course.
All of our Induction are carried out by one of our experience Inductors and can be either by telephone or an online forum such as Zoom, MS Teams at a time and place to suit you This is necessary so that students and staff get all the information required to complete the course successfully. We are very aware of the disruption this may sometimes cause, but we try to work with you and your staff.
For Companies we are now offering face to face inductions at your premises and asking for a minimum of 8 people to attend for an Induction to take place with one of our experienced Inductors.
During the Induction we introduce people to the courses and complete the necessary College paperwork.
